12-16 week gap between Covishield doses, Covid recovered patients should defer jab for six months, says Govt panel
The latest update says the gap between Covishield doses can be increased to 12 to 16 weeks. Initially, the gap was four weeks; then, it was increased to 6 to 8 weeks.
No change has been suggested for Covaxin doses. The gap between doses of covaxin remains to be 4 to 6 weeks. The update was passed by the government panel.
The panel also suggested that pregnant women will be left on their choice to go for the COVID19 vaccine or not, and lactating women can be vaccinated anytime after their delivery.
The panel also advised that the patients who recovered from COVID should wait for six months for the jab. Laboratory test has proven that SARS-CoV-2 infection is supposed to defer the COVID19 vaccination till six months after recovery.
