According to preliminary statistics, the country delivered 1.25 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine on Tuesday, the largest single-day figure since the vaccination campaign began on January 16 this year. With this, India concluded August with a new high of 18.12 crore doses administered, up from 13.45 crore in July.According to official figures, India's cumulative vaccine doses have now surpassed 65 crore. In August, the daily average immunisation was 58.46 lakh, marking the first time the figure exceeded 50 lakh. Due to a supply constraint, the average daily immunisation rate fell to 19.69 lakh in May from 29.96 lakh in April. June and July witnessed 39.89 lakh and 43.41 average daily jabs, respectively, as manufacturers ramped up production.
Uttar Pradesh had the greatest number of doses given out this month, with 2.46 crore. In August, Maharashtra (1.43 crore), Madhya Pradesh (1.42 crore), Bihar (1.30 crore), Gujarat (1.26 crore), Rajasthan (1.19 crore), Karnataka (1.17 crore), and West Bengal (1.17 crore) each provided more than 1 crore doses (1.12 crore doses).
Tamil Nadu (93 lakh), Kerala (87.18 lakh), Andhra Pradesh (86.46 lakh), and Odisha (86.46 lakh) are the states that have reported more than 50 lakh vaccination doses this month (56 lakh).Due to a rise in supplies, the states had a record 5.42 crore unused vaccination doses on Tuesday morning, according to Health Ministry data.
