Following up on the proposals of the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B), the Central Railway (CR) will reproduce 13 foot overbridges (FOB) on the Mumbai rural rail line organization. The development is required to be finished by year-end.
The development across the mainline, harbor and trans-harbor rail route organization will be done in stages and on a needed premise.
Dharavi FOB among Matunga and Sion railroad station, public FOB among Kanjurmarg and Bhandup rail line station, and Matunga level intersection foot overbridge will be built first among Matunga and Sion rail route stations.
The zonal rail line has welcomed tenders for the development of the three extensions.
"The extensions will be built in a staged way. Obliterating of the current scaffolds will be done first," said a senior Central Railway official.
Specialists from IIT-B, Central, Western Railway and authorities from community bodies had attempted a review of 445 scaffold structures across the rural rail route tracks after the breakdown of the Gokhale connect at Andheri rail route station in July 2018.
