Pakistani Caught by Indian army
A 19-year-old Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was apprehended and another gunned down last evening in a major counter-insurgency operation to deter terrorists who were trying to cross along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri. .Major General Virendra Vats said, "The terrorist who surrendered in custody has identified himself as Ali Babar of Pakistan's Punjab.
He has admitted that he is a member of Lashkar and was trained by them in Muzaffarabad."The army said that seven terrorists have been neutralized in the last seven days. Major Vats said, "The movement of such a large group of people cannot happen without the connivance of the Pakistan Army deployed on the other side. There has been a stir at the launch pads across the LoC." Yesterday's arrest was a part of the biggest counter-terrorism operation launched by India along the Line of Control since the ceasefire with Pakistan in February.
Several operations have been going on in Uri and Rampur sectors since September 18, when the Army intercepted three infiltration attempts while on patrol.Four jawans have also been injured in the operation in the last three days."When the encounter took place, two infiltrators came across the border, while four were on the other side. After the shelling, the four terrorists from the Pakistani side took advantage of the thick leaves to move towards Pakistan. Two terrorists entered the Indian side. Additional forces were deployed to corner the two terrorists who had infiltrated into India."
The infiltration attempt was made in the area of Salamabad Nala, the same area used by terrorists to attack the army base in Uri in 2016, in which 19 soldiers were killed. A few days after the attack, India conducted surgical strikes targeting terror camps across the Line of Control. This is the first time in recent years that a Pakistani terrorist has been caught alive while trying to enter India. This was the third infiltration attempt in the last one week.Seven AK-series weapons, nine pistols and revolvers and more than 80 grenades and Indian and Pakistani currency have been recovered in the Uri operation. Even three porters helped the terrorists, who had come to help carry supplies to the LoC.
