Maharashtra is the state where most of the Covid cases were registered and has a lot of deaths and infections. In the last two months, Maharashtra has come down with a smaller number of active cases than usual. It is recorded that the state has 6,740 active cases on Monday. This brings the tally to 116,827 active cases. While the number of active cases in the month of June was 188,027 and in May it was 641,596.
The number of cases in Maharashtra has decreased while Pune still continues to get new active cases of 16,960, which is followed by Thane with 16,742 active cases. The third place was occupied by Kolhapur with 12,716 active cases. In the month of June, Pune had 22,280 cases, which is followed by 18,130 in Kolhapur and Mumbai 18,118 active cases.
During the peak of the Covid-19 second wave, on May 5th, the number of active cases were rising up to 641,597 with Pune leading in first place with 114,254 cases, which is followed by 58,944 active cases in Nagpur and 56,153 cases in Mumbai.
The decline in the number of active cases is due to the active measures taken by the government, stated Dr. Subhash Salunkhe, Advisor of the Maharashtra government o Covid-19 issues. He also stated that the number of tests and isolation of patients has been increased, in order to minimize the spread. The transmission rates were decreased by the lockdowns implemented by the government.
