The Adani Group had made an announcement and went on to release an official media statement. A joint team from customs and the DRI had seized eight containers from the foreign vessel from Mundra port which contained hazardous goods, on 18th of November. The said port is run by Adani Ports and SEZ (APSEZ), the ports business under the Gautam Adani-run conglomerate.
The vessel was listed as non-hazardous as the seized containers had class 7 markings that were the indication of the radioactive substances. The group had further stated that, “Although the containers were not destined for Mundra Port or any other port in India but were en route from Karachi in Pakistan to Shanghai in China, the government authorities had them offloaded at Mundra Port for further inspection.” "... APSEZ said it extended all assistance possible for this operation and thanks the Customs and DRI personnel for their quick and coordinated action.

In September the DRI seized two containers that carried 2,988.21 kg of heroin at Mundra Port. It was seen that the containers were stuffed with the semi- processed talc stones which were from Afghanistan, and it was supposed to be shipped to Mundra port via the Bandar Abbas port in Iran. Since this incident APSEZ had stopped handling export-import containerized cargo from countries like Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan from the 15th of November.
