Say No to Alcohol
New research shows alcohol use is the leading cause of cancer and death in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. According to an article in Cancer Epidemiology, the incidence of alcohol-related cancer ranges from 6.7% in Delaware to 2.9% in Utah. Likewise, Delaware has the highest alcohol-related death rate (4.5%) and Utah has the lowest (1.9%).
This study was carried out by a doctor. Farhad Islam and his colleagues from the American Cancer Society were the first to estimate the current level and number of deaths from cancer and alcohol in all countries. The data shows that rates are generally higher in New England and the western states, and lower in the central and southern states.
Refuse to Alcohol in any form
"This information is important for prioritizing state-level cancer prevention and control efforts to reduce alcohol consumption and the burden of alcohol-related cancers," mentioned Dr. Islami.
The incidence of alcohol-related cancers is much higher in some specific cancers. For example, cases of oral / throat cancer ranged from 36% in Utah to 62.5% in Delaware and over 45% in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Based on gender, most cancers studied in men had more cancer and alcohol-related deaths, in part due to higher alcohol consumption in men.
Kidney Damage Representation
In the United States, alcohol consumption accounted for an average of 4.8% of cancer cases and 3.2% of cancer deaths between 2013 and 2016, or approximately 75,200 cancers and 18,950 deaths.
In addition, the authors said, "healthcare providers and public health practitioners can educate the community to expand the currently limited awareness of the cancer-related risks of alcohol consumption." According to the American Cancer Society's guidelines for diet and physical activity for cancer prevention, it is best not to consume alcohol. Alcoholics should limit their intake to 1 serving per day for women and 2 servings per day for men.
