At an ordinary ceremony at Raj Bhawan in Shimla on Tuesday, Rajendra Vishvana Arlekar, 67, took oaths as 28th governor of Himachal Pradesh. He was given an oath to the constitution and secrecy by the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice, Ravi Malimath. The governor was granted a procession of respect by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Arlekar's wife Anagha.
Arlekar afterwards assured the press that he would push the state government's plans ahead. “I will work in coordination with the state government and give whatever support it needs in development. We will work together for the protection of the rich environment of the state.”
The governor said the kindness of the citizens of the state pleased him. He claimed numerous Himachal Pradesh individuals participated in the Goa Liberation Movement, while one of them was Shri Ram Singh. He added, "I'm going to attempt to meet his family."
Arlekar seems to have been a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since infancy and ended up joining the BJP in 1989, serving in various capacities in the Goa branch. Manohar Parrikar was in the race for the position of chief minister when he was appointed as Union defence minister in 2014. He is recognised for eliminating the use of parchment in the Goa legislature.
