All the banks across the country are public or private. Both are going to remain shut for five out of seven days due to the various festivals that are celebrated this month which include Navratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra, and the long trail is beginning from 19th of October. So if you are planning to visit the bank branches anytime during this week then you must take a look at the list of the holidays to avoid any inconveniences.
The Reserve Bank of India further notified these holidays for the lenders under the three brackets. And it even went on to announce that all the banks including the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks, and the regional banks across the country will further remain closed on these notified holidays.
As per the holiday list of RBI, all the banks remain closed on Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), and on Christmas Day (25 December). And apart from that the banks also remain shut during the festivals including Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanti, and Good Friday. The private and the public sector banks across the country remain closed on the second and the fourth Saturdays during every month.
The RBI has also made it compulsory for the banks to remain closed on Sundays. However, even after the official release of this list, the holidays may vary from a different state to state. So it is further advised by the consumers to visit their known branch and know the actual dates of holidays. So that if you have any pending work such as the deposit and the withdrawal of the cash during this festive season you should not face any problem, you must the nearest branch to know the exact dates as the closure trail will begin from 19th of October. The banks might remain closed but on the other hand, the ATMs will be open as usual for 24 hours without any disruption or disturbance even during the mentioned holidays. The long trial will begin from the 19th of October and will go up to the 31st of October.
