"Cabinet approves increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief "
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday endorsed an expansion in dearness remittance to focal government representatives and dearness help to beneficiaries to 28 percent with impact from July 1 this year.
This represents an increase of 11 per cent over the existing rate of 17 percent of basic pay/pension.
In view of the unforeseen situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic, three additional installments of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners, which are on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and Rs. were due from January 1, 2021, but the freeze was imposed.
