The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that, this year is going to be the third
consecutive year with a cyclonic storm that is building over the Arabian Sea close to the
Indian Coast due to which Pune received light rain on Friday.
0.9 millimetres of rainfall has been reported in Shivajinagar, Pune and other parts of pune
like Lohegaon and Pashan has reported only traces of rain on Friday. IMD has shared their
prediction of average rainfall ( 15.6mm - 64.4mm ), thunder, lightning, winds in Pune on 15th
and 16th of May, with heavy rainfall in the ghat areas ( 64.5mm - 115.5mm ).
IMD Scientist, Anupam Kashyapi said that "Citizens and authorities have to stay alert as a
yellow card has been issued by IMD. In some of the areas, there must be slanted reduction
in visibility and in intense rainfall periods the roads might be slippery and there can be a
major disarrangement of traffic. Average rainfall with possibility of falling of trees in low lying
areas on 15th and 16th of May."
