Thirty people fell into the well when the villagers tried to rescue the drowned boy, NDTV reports. The roof of the well collapsed under the weight of people trying to rescue a boy from an incident in Ganja Basoda, about 50 kilometers from the center, authorities said.Nineteen were later saved and ten are said to be still locked inside. Those who are saved suffer easily. Five people were hospitalized. Regarding the incident, Prime Minister Shivraj Chouhan said rescue operations were ongoing and officials were contacted.
"I am constantly in touch with the administration at the site of the incident and am continuously monitoring the rescue operations. As the representative of the state government, Vidisha's in-charge minister Vishwas Sarang was present at the spot throughout the night. Under his supervision the rescue teams are engaged in rescuing the trapped people," he mentioned.
"The National Disaster Management Force and State Disaster Management Force have been pressed into action. Inspector General, Zone, and other senior officials have also reached the spot. I am in touch with the concerned officials," Chouhan stated in the media.The Prime Minister also led the investigation at a high level and instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the victims.
