Shiv Sena boss Sanjay Raut criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the center on Sunday, alleging abuse by investigating authorities. The attack came after some ministers in the government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), headed by Shiv Sena, were ambushed by the Directorate of Implementation (ED) and Income Tax.
Raut claimed that the central investigative authorities were working on behalf of the ruling party to put an end to Maharashtra's political rivals. "Is there a rule of law or (a) an investigative rule in Maharashtra? This question arises in view of the investigations of the central investigative authorities," quoted the PTI Raut news agency in the Sena report. Mouthpiece 'Saamana', of which he is editor-in-chief.
Regarding the arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (BNC) of the son-in-law of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik, Raut said drug authorities could only find herbs in Khan's possession. Stop. under the pretense of being involved in drug trafficking and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
"Now the court has granted him bail. The court said herbal tobacco was found in the possession of Khan and not drugs. Malik should file cases against NCB officials," Raut said in the write-up.
The Sena chief then attacked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for raiding the homes of the former Home Secretary of Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh, rather than finding out the whereabouts of Param Bir Singh, the former Commissioner with the help of some police officers when he was Minister of the Interior.
Raut also criticized recent roundups by the tax authorities against relatives of NCP chief and Maharashtra deputy prime minister Ajit Pawar.
Delhi rulers used to lie, but now raids on capital investments are no longer common, PTI added.
The killing of unwanted political rivals by these agencies appears to have become new policy, Raut says. Use people's money, government machinery to remove political opponents. In the past, contract killings were the order of the day in Mumbai (when Underworld was active). Hitmen were hired on contract to kill rivals (by gangs). This is now replaced by 'government killing'. Central investigating agencies are working as contract killers for the party in power in Delhi.
