Delhi Government to provide free Covid-19 vaccine to all above 18 years of age.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi government would provide free vaccines to all above 18 years of age. He said that the state has ordered a 1.34 crore vaccine and is likely to receive it soon and be administered to the public.
The vaccine is free of cost only in Delhi government hospital, for private people still need to pay. Kejriwal has urged the vaccine makers to bring down the price for the vaccine for the state.
"I appeal to vaccine manufacturers to bring down the price to 150/dose. You have an entire lifetime to earn profits. This is not the time to do that when there is a raging pandemic. I also appeal to the Central government to cap the price (of vaccines) if needed," he said.
The vaccine producers said they would charge 400 and 600 respectively from the state and 150 per dose from the central government. CM Kejriwal said that the same price should be charged.
Covishield to be charged at 400 per dose to state government and 600 to the private hospital said serum institute of India. Covaxin to be charged at 600 for the state and 1200 for private.
