The Delhi High Court dismissed a case filed by actor-environmentalist Juhi Chawla against establishing 5G wireless networks in the country on Friday. According to the Court decision, Chawla exploited the legal system.
According to the Indian news agency ANI, the court issued a fine of Rs. 20 lakhs. The Delhi High Court stated in its decision that "it appears that the suit was filed for publicity."
According to the report, Juhi Chawla distributed the hearing link on social media three times, causing the disturbance. "Delhi Police must identify the individuals and take appropriate action against those who caused the disruption," the judge remarked. According to PTI, Chawla's counsel contended that if the telecom industry's 5G ambitions come to fulfillment, no person, animal, bird, insect, or plant on the globe will be able to avoid exposure to levels of RF radiation 10x to 100x higher than what exists today, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
"Since 'prevention' is well-accepted to be far better than 'cure', immediate measures must be taken to protect humanity and the environment, following ethical imperatives as well as formal international agreements, before such harm is unleashed," the plea added.
