On Wednesday, a bench of justice Rekha Palli bashed Delhi Government on opening a vaccination center if it is incapable of providing a second dose of Covaxin, which was supposed to be delivered within a time frame of four to six weeks.
The Delhi High Court questioned the government about opening vaccination centers "with so much pomp and splendor" when it is impossible to administer the second dose of Covaxin.
The issue came under the notice when a petition has been filed as the petitioners could not get the second dose of the vaccine despite trying a lot.
The notice was issued to both the center and the state government as well. It was mentioned in the petition that people were traveling to other locations for the vaccine as Delhi has exhausted its stock.
While addressing the statement, the judge said, "When Maharashtra did not have the vaccine, they stopped the process because they knew that it would not have the second dose and the vaccine will lose its effect," the judge noted."
The court noted and posted that this matter will be heard on June 4.
