Finally, Anna University has got new vice-chancellor Dr. R Velraj appointed by Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit for a period of three years with effect from the date of his assumption of office.
According to the official post of Raj Bhavan Velraj, he has a rich teaching experience of 33 years. He is the Director of the Energy Research Institute of Anna University in Chennai and the Director of the CAD / CAM Institute of Anna-BRD University, currently a professor at the Energy Research Institute of Anna University.
Stating that Velraj has large research experience having posted 193 research papers in Indexed Journals with H-Index fifty-two and citations greater than 10,000. He has additionally offered 29 papers in worldwide educational and research activities He has offered 31 research papers in National Level Conferences and authored three books. In addition, he has performed 15 research projects really well worth Rs.17. eighty-five crore. He has guided 33 Ph.D. Scholars and a couple of M.S. students. Velraj has developed three Ph.D. programs. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering introduced nine new research programs for the Master of Engineering Science and helped formulate two academic programs for the Anna University Master's Program in Mechanical Engineering. He has 14 years of administrative experience as dean, deputy chief and department head, so he is well versed in university management.
