'Martyr Kisan Diwas'
Farmers protesting against three agricultural laws will observe 'Martyr Kisan Diwas' on Tuesday in the memory of the farmers who lost their lives in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. The United Kisan Morcha gave this information by issuing a statement. The United Kisan Morcha (SKM), a union of more than 40 farmer organizations, appealed to farmers' organizations and progressive groups across the country to celebrate the day by organizing prayer and tribute meetings across the country, followed by lighting candles in the evening.
"Shaheed Kisan Diwas will be celebrated on 12th October on the call of SKM. The 'Last Ardas' of the martyrs of Lakhimpur Kheri massacre will be held at Sahebzada Inter College, Tikunia tomorrow. Preparations are being made for this and thousands of farmers are expected to attend the tribute meeting.The SKM appealed to the people to light five candles outside their homes at 8 pm on Tuesday. The organization expressed surprise over the lack of action against BJP MP Ajay Mishra, whose vehicle had allegedly trampled farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri.

Violent clashes broke out between farmers and BJP workers. Angry farmers set fire to vehicles. 9 people died in the violence.
