Finance Minister Sitharaman
All the reports regarding the ongoing shortage of the Coal within the Country are absolutely false, says Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. She further went on to say that all the reports are baseless and there is no such shortage of coal within the country, and she further went on to say that India is a power surplus country.
FM Sitharaman said that Power Minister RK Singh has gone to record the reports of two days back after going through all the reports he said that all the reports are baseless, and the information which is floating around regarding the shortage of coal are absolutely false and there is no such confirmation about it. Sitharaman further went on to say at the Harvard Kennedy School on Tuesday that “all the stock and the power generation is fully available within the premises and the supply chain has not broken at all.
She even mentioned in her statement during the interaction which was organized by the Mosawar- Rahmani Center for Business and Government she said that “there is not going to be any shortfall which will lead to any shortfall in supply”, and now we are a power surplus country.
“We are also taking a fairly good amount of risks to see what basket of energy is available for India, how much is based on fossil fuel and how much comes from renewable energy and we are always looking at ways in which it can be shifted in favour of renewable energy. So the picture is not of short supply, but it’s also a picture of newer components in the basket,” she said.
