Floating bodies trigger panic in MP villagers

A panic situation occurred in the district of Madhya Pradesh when around half a dozen bodies were found floating in the river in the Panna district, which created panic among the residents. The bodies were found after the incident of finding a dozen of corpses in the Ganga in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the residents, bodies were floating in the river for about four days, but the matter was highlighted only after the corpse video has been viral on social media. A resident of Panna, Rajesh Yadav, said "The decomposed bodies can be seen easily in the river. We do not know whether the bodies belong to Covid-19 infected people or not, but this is for the first time we have seen floating bodies in this river. We are not allowing kids to come out of houses as we are afraid of the spread of the disease in the village."

The collector of Panna District claimed that among the bodies, there were bodies of the two individual who belong to the neighbouring village who died a few days ago due to cancer. He said, "There is a tradition of disposing of bodies in the river. Usually, the villagers go to dispose of bodies in Ken River but due to lockdown, they disposed of the bodies in the local river. We retrieved the two bodies and buried them. Now, we are checking whether there are more bodies in the river or not."
