Fuel price leaps 11 times this month; diesel price rose over Rs.3/lit in May.
Fuel rates in India took another leap after a gap of 2 days for the 11th time in 18days. Petrol gets costlier by ₹2.64 a litre, and diesel gets costlier by ₹3.07 a litre since 4th May. On Friday, state-run retailers raised petrol price by 19paise and diesel by 29 paise.
There’s been a fall in the international oil prices this week. On Thursday, Benchmark Brent crude fell by over 6% at $65.11 per barrel from $69.46 per barrel recorded on Monday. State-run retailers fix the pump prices of petrol and diesel with the international rates on the previous day. International petrol and diesel rates rise and fall with the global crude oil prices.
With the latest hike in fuel price, petrol is sold at ₹93.04/litre and diesel at ₹83.80/litre in Delhi. The fuel rates in Delhi are a benchmark for the country; retail prices of fuels differ from place to place because of variations in state taxes and local levies.
