Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat
Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat stated the party will pursue the upcoming independence vote in Punjab there under command of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, only days after pledging to provide good news to the region.
Singh and party leader Navjot Singh Sindhu will work together for the cause, according to the Congress national secretary in responsibility of Punjab, and a formula has been figured out on the subject. When questioned if Sidhu will be named Punjab Congress leader, the former Uttarakhand chief minister remarked, “He and Sidhu will work together. A formula has been made around this. "We have also worked out a mechanism for functioning presidents."
“Captain Amarinder Singh is our chief minister for the last four-and-a-half years and we will go to the elections under his leadership,” Rawat was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. On Tuesday, Rawat met with Rahul as part of the central establishment's attempt to end the months-long feud between the chief minister and the cricketer-turned-politician.
A three-person committee, led by Rajya Sabha member Mallikarjun Kharge, met with all of the party's lawmakers to address the problem ahead of the forthcoming state elections to resolve the infighting in the Punjab branch.
Sidhu has spoken with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, while Singh has spoken with Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
