Drona wanted to see how well his pupils could focus, so he hung a toy bird in a tree and told everyone to shoot their arrows at its eye. When he inquired what they could see, the Pandavas gave a variety of answers, including the bird, the foliage, the tree, and so on, and he was disappointed. Only Arjuna, without missing a beat, stated that he could see nothing but the bird's eye. Drona was pleased and asked Arjuna to shoot. Arjuna's arrow perfectly penetrated the bird's eye.
