From July 1, schools and colleges are being reopened. To decrease the effect of the virus after the reopening of schools and colleges, Himachal Pradesh conducts vaccination drives for the students with age 18 and above and teaching staff and non-teaching staff. The education department aims to vaccinate 1.25 lakh people such as students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, midday meal workers before schools, colleges reopen.
Across the state of Himachal Pradesh around 200 vaccination centers are set up in schools and colleges to vaccinate, state education director Amarjeet K Sharma said.
All students above the age of 18 are eligible for the vaccine. Family members also can vaccinate in this campaign, he said.
Sharma had cleared the rumors spreading that only vaccinated students are allowed to the exams after reopening. It is not true. All students are allowed to write exams, if they are vaccinated or not. But the government tries to vaccinate all students before reopening schools and colleges.
Even if the effectiveness of the second pandemic is declining, the Delta plus variant may lead to some fear in people and the government. Delta plus is a muted version of more aggressive B. 1.617.2 or Delta strain of the covid virus.
