In the Bhagsu Nag area of Dharamshala, a cloudburst triggered a flash flood that washed away vehicles and damaged property.
Locals and officials, including SHO Mcleodganj Vipin Chaudhary, have posted much footage on social media. A 37-second video published by news agency ANI reveals horrific sights of a massive volume of water pouring swiftly over parked automobiles, filmed from a building's balcony.
A few seconds into the video, an SUV gets plucked by floodwaters but is stopped by other vehicles stranded by flash floods. Screams could be heard from those filming these images as they saw a large SUV getting swept away.
"Now, no automobile will proceed beyond here," one of the drivers stated when the car was halted by several vehicles. Others were taken aback by the tremendous volume of water pouring in from the opposite side. The Kangra area, 58 kilometers from Dharamshala, has been flooded, causing chaos.
The swiftness with which the water flowed converted a stream in Bhagsu Nag, a popular tourist destination, into that anything less than a river under no timeframe. Some of the area's hotels have suffered significant damage. People have been terrified by the cloudburst and flash floods, which have also produced chaos and uncertainty.
CM Jairam Thakur has requested a briefing on the losses and has asked authorities to assist the devastated districts in every way possible. After days of scorching weather, numerous other areas in Himachal Pradesh have also seen significant rain. The Monday deluge provided some relief, but it also caused irreparable damage.
