New Delhi: The CoWin website of the Indian government provides the report that over 70% of the citizens have been vaccinated with the first dose, and around 29 crores citizens have been fully vaccinated. And a total of 1 billion vaccination doses have been distributed as per the report given by the CoWin Website. The Covid-19 vaccination drive of India hits another milestone, as a total of 100 crores vaccinations have been distributed which resulted in the achievement of another milestone. Looking onto this achievement the Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya went on to congratulate the citizens of the country. He even took to Twitter to tweet that, “Congratulations India, this is the result of the able leadership of visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi, #Vaccinecentury.

Across the country, the top five states which have provided the highest number of Doses are Uttar Pradesh followed by Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. Upon this achievement, Dr. VK Paul, Member-Health at NITI Aayog, said it's remarkable to reach 100 crore billion dose mark for any nation, an achievement in just over nine months since the vaccination program started in India,

He mentioned this statement congratulating the health workers and the people of the country. But on the other hand, he even went on to say that still 25% of the adults have still not received the doses despite being eligible for the vaccination and even can receive the doses for free. He further went on to add that, “Efforts must go forward to vaccinate those who haven't taken the first dose,". Just over 30% of Indians vaccinated with both doses, about 10 crore individuals are now overdue, they should have received the second dose, but they have not. It's now unfinished work that we must accomplish, and send reminders to those individuals to take their second dose," Dr. Paul said.

On the 3rd of January India got the approval of Covi-19 vaccines, and the three main vaccines that are given to the citizens are Covishield Oxford AstraZeneca's vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India), Covaxin (manufactured by Bharat Biotech Limited), and Sputnik V (developed by Gamaleya Research Institute, Russia). The country-wide vaccination process began on the 16th of January this year, and the health care workers were among the first those who were given the jab shots, and the vaccination for the frontline workers began from 2nd February. The next phase began on the 1st of March for the senior citizens i.e. people over 60 years, and the country went on to give the approval for the vaccination drive to the people of 18 years and above during 1st April.
