India to receive its first foreign Vaccine Sputnik-V from Russia from May 1.
Kirill Dmitriev, the head of Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said that Russia will provide India first dose of Sputnik-V vaccine from 1st May onwards. He added saying that he hoped that India would come out of the second wave of covid-19 soon.
India being the second most populous country is experiencing the highest covid-19 cases daily. With the second wave going there are more than 3lakhs cases daily. All over the nation there is shortage of beds and oxygen cylinders due to which death rate has also increased in India.
Many countries including Britain, Germany and USA have pledged to help India with all the medical equipment and oxygen cylinders. In such crisis arriving of Sputnik-V vaccine is very helpful as it will add to India’s vaccine Covishield and Covaxin.
Although it is not specified that how many vaccines will India receive but RDIF says that it expects India to reach 50 million doses per month. Russia pharmaceutical says that it will provide 1 million doses of Remidesivir antiviral drug to India at the end of May once it receives the approval from Russia government.
