At the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2021, actor Suriya and his film 'SooraraiPottru,' directed by Sudha Kongara, received Best Male Performance and Best Film. Aparna Balamurali played the female protagonist in the film, which was partially based on the biography of Capt Gopinath, the pioneer of the low-cost airline Air Deccan, with music by GV Prakash.
Soorarai Pottru, which was produced by Suriya's home banner 2D Entertainment, won the Best Film award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Intriguingly, the Best Film winner receives a Black Magic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 as well as a nomination for the coveted Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards in the Best Asian Film category (AACTA Awards).
