You must have seen many people who work with the left hand. Writing, eating, lifting something etc. Such people do all these things with their opposite hands only. Every year on 13th August this day is celebrated to celebrate the specialities of Left-Handed Individuals across the world.
Dean R Campbell celebrated this day for the first time in the year 1976, and since then this day is celebrated every year. This is a special day for left-handed people. On this day the advantages and disadvantages of working with the left hand are discussed and awareness is also spread about it. So let's know some special things about this day, which everyone should know.
International Lefthanders Day was established to honour sinistrality and raise awareness of the benefits and drawbacks of being left-handed in a world that is overwhelmingly right-handed. It honours the distinctiveness and distinctions of left-handed persons, a segment of humankind that accounts for seven to ten per cent of the world's population. The day also raises awareness on issues that affect left-handed people, such as the importance of special requirements for left-handed children and the risk of developing schizophrenia in left-handed people.
In honour of the festival, a number of media sources and commercial organisations have published one-off pieces and compilations of accomplished left-handed people.
