New Delhi: A total of nine soldiers have been killed during the ongoing encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. And the death toll rises to two after the two bodies have been recovered from Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. Among the dead bodies, after the identification, it came out that one was a junior commissioned officer (JCO) and another was of a Jawan that was recovered on Saturday.
With this, a massive search operation was launched to further track down the terrorists who were involved in the assassination of the army soldiers on the 11th of October, in the forest areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, and the ongoing encounter has entered its seventh day on Sunday. The JCO and the Jawan went missing as the army received a heavy firing from the terrorists on Thursday.
The two jawans Subedar Ajay Singh and Naik Harendra Singh were the ones who were killed during the action, as the search operations were being conducted by the Indian army which was along with the Jammu and Kashmir police in densely in the forest areas of Nar Khas located in Mendhar Poonch, as said by the army in a statement. Vivek Gupta further told the reporters,”
The terrorists are holed up and the joint forces are on the job to take the operation to the logical conclusion as per the Standard Operating Procedure," Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri-Poonch range. But he didn’t disclose the numbers of the terrorists who were hiding in the forest area. Tightened security has been laden in the forest area since Thursday after the encounter of Uttarakhand's riflemen Vikram Singh Negi and Yogambar Singh took place. On the 11th of October, five Army personnel lost their lives as there was a terror attack in Poonch's Suranjote forest. On the other hand, there was even a fire between the Army search parties and the fleeing terrorists that took place in the Thanamandi forest in Rajouri during the same day.
