American President Joe Joe Biden
As the world witnessed a growing number of suicide bombings that killed 13 US soldiers and 72 Afghans, US President Joe Biden reached out to the media and pledged to fight those who carried out the attacks- suicides near Kabul airport.
“To those who carried out this attack as well as anyone who wishes America harm, know this: We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay," Biden said.
Biden delivered his speech from the White House, where he paid tribute to fallen soldiers and also called for the Kabul evacuation plan to continue until the planned full withdrawal of US troops on August 31.
“Knowing the threat, knowing that we may very well have another attack, the military has concluded that that’s what we should do. I think they are right."
An image of the Democratic president has gone viral on social media, showing him in a dark pose during his press address with his head down. While some praised him for coping with a crisis and showing empathy, others were not so impressed. It started after former President Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., shared the photo on his Twitter account, calling it a sign of weakness. Trump's tweet was countered by several netizens who instead pointed to Biden's compassion and humanity for the lives they lost.
However, not everyone was happy with Biden's response to the horrific suicide attacks; some have even argued that it could mean "the collapse of the American Empire." However, one user appeared to view the photo differently. He explained why Biden nodded and said his "answer" was a question from a reporter, and while shaking his head angrily, Biden asked a question. When the reporter responded, Biden had bowed his head for a moment.
