Tank Bund Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Telangana's minister for municipal administration and urban development, K.T. Rama Rao, requested on Tuesday that the Hyderabad Police consider and arrange traffic controls on the city's most famous hangout location, Tank Bund, during the evening hours every Sunday.
The minister praised a citizen's suggestion on Twitter and asked the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to think about it and arrange for its implementation with his team.
Ashok Chandrasekar, a citizen, tweeted “Sir, Why not restrict traffic movement on Sunday evening between 5 to 8 pm on Tank Bund, citizen’s can enjoy the beautiful facility provided by your Government. It’s total chaos now families struggling to cross from left to right it’s pedestrian nightmare right now.” today in the morning.
KTR responded to the tweet and requested Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad to consider and plan with their team on implementation.
The most popular hangout spot is Tank Bund road, which runs next to the scenic Hussain Sagar lake in the city's core. Morning walkers, families having an evening and watching the sunset over the 450-year-old lake swarm the road that connects the twin towns of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
On both sides of the 2.2-kilometer span, there are wide pathways. A succession of statues of Telugu icons, including poets, freedom fighters, and leaders, can also be found here.
A tank, located on the Secunderabad side of the stretch, is a tourist attraction. Pakistan's M-47 Patton tank was awarded to the 54th Infantry Division as a battle trophy following the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The trophy was given to the city by the regiment and placed on the Tank Bund.
Early this year, the area was given a makeover with the addition of custom-designed cast iron railing, grills, and designer lamp posts. The municipal administration department began work on the first phase of the project, which is expected to cost Rs 38 crore.
On the pathways, flamed granite was installed, with granite kerbs on either side. To avoid digging up the road, ducts for various services such as power lines were installed. Specially constructed cast iron railings, grills, and aligned designer lamp posts and lights were erected to lend glitz to the space.
The improvements are part of KTR's plan to transform Tank Bund into a world-class city plaza that reflects modern, wealthy Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is responsible for beautification projects like as street furniture, kiosks, and decorative lighting.
The authorities are also providing inhabitants with amenities such as seats, shopping, and parking. They intend to build Lake View Night Bazar near the lake in the next phase. Hussain Sagar is the city's oldest and most popular hangout spot, thanks to its strategic location and natural beauty, as well as boating amenities, surrounding parks, food places, and an Imax theatre.
Hundreds of families spend their nights and free time in the vicinity of the lake. Tourists stroll along the beachfront, take a boat ride, and take photographs in front of the ‘Love Hyderabad' sculpture, which was added a few years ago. Every day, a great number of people visit Lumbini Park, NTR Garden, Sanjeevaiah Park, People's Plaza, and Eat Street to play games and eat delicious food.
