Car accident in Bengaluru
Seven people were killed after their car slammed into a road divider and a compound wall in the early hours of Tuesday in Bengaluru's Koramangala , including the son of DMK MLA Y Prakash.Prakash's son Karuna Sagar, his relative Bindu, and friends Ishita, Dhanusha, Akshay Goyal, Utsav, and Rohith were among the deceased. Karuna Sagar, the driver, lost control of the vehicle and collided with bollards on the pedestrian path, falling into a nearby building's wall.
The occupants were in an Audi when the accident occurred around 1.30 a.m. near Mangala Kalayana Manatapa. The party was on its way to Forum mall when the incident occurred, according to authorities.According to a senior police official, the hit was so powerful that the front end of the car was completely demolished. “We suspect that they might have been speeding at 100km/hr. The locals who informed police shifted them to a private hospital but six had died on the spot and one died on the way.
The bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem,” the officer added.Maregowda, one of the relatives of Prakash who was at the hospital, said: “Karuna had called at 8.30 pm and informed that he would return to Hosur on the same night. We got the information at 5 am. His sister lives in BTM Layout and we rushed to the hospital. Prakash had lost his wife four months ago due to kidney-related ailments.”Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ravikanthe Gowda said, “Prima facie, it looks like that the car was being driven fast and in a negligent manner. We are yet to know whether they were drunk. Adugodi traffic police have registered a case of rash drivin and a probe is underway.”
