Actor Kumail Nanjaini is going to star as Chippendales, a founder of Somen ‘Steve’ Banerjee in the upcoming Hulu series, Immigrant.
The series is of eight episodes and will be going to tell the true story of Somen. Somen is an Indian Entrepreneur who has started Chippendales, which is a touring dance troupe which is best known for its male striptease performances.
The series is going to detail the “insane, darkly comedic, crime-ridden story behind the unique male revue that became a cultural phenomenon."
The series has been written by Robert Siegel and is executively produced by Robert , Kumail, Limelight’s Dylan Sellers and Chris Parker, and Emily V Gordan, also including Rajiv Joseph and Mehar Sethi. Who will also be writing the series.
Somen was an Indian entrepreneur who had struck gold when he added the male stripper dance for the female audiences to line up in the nightclub of Los Angeles.
Kumail is not a stranger to television, He has started the hit HBO comedy Silicon Valley which was continued till its season 6. He has also been seen on shows like Portlandia, Franklin and Bash, and Adventure Time.
