Lucknow: On Friday Ashish Mishra was asked to appear in front of the Uttar Pradesh police, because he was summoned as a witness in the connection related to the massacre and violence in Lakhimpur Kheri. But the minister’s son didn’t turn up, he was again asked to appear on 9th of October.
On Saturday, October 9, 2021 Ashish Mishra the son of the Union minister of State of Home Affairs, appeared before the Uttar Pradesh police, as he was connected with the violence at Lakhimpur Kheri, where 8 people had allegedly lost their lives, which included four farmers. Ashish Mishra furthermore went on to report to the crime branch office in Lakhimpur on the day after he was evaded by the police. “We respect the notice and will cooperate in the investigation. Ashish Mishra will appear before the police today,” Awadhesh Kumar, legal advisor of Ashish Mishra, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI before his appearance.
Before the appearance of Ashish Mishra, police tightened the security of the Union Minister’s residence, ahead of Mishra’s appearance on Saturday in front of Uttar Pradesh police. Ashish Mishra was further asked to report on Friday, but he didn’t appear. Later the reason stated by the union minister was that his son could not turn up because of health related issues. The absence of his appearance had further led Uttar Pradesh to issue a fresh notice outside the minister’s son asking him to turn up on Saturday ahead of the questioning. On the other hand on Friday, the Supreme Court on Friday pulled out the issue for not arresting Ashish Mishra, the court even mentioned in the reports that the U.P police does not seem to appear, really serious even though this brutal incident lead to the loss of the lives of 8 people.
On Monday, 4th of October, the Uttar Pradesh police had booked and released a warrant against Ashish Mishra, on the charges of murder. The Samyukta Kishsan Morcha (SKM) which is the organization of several farmer’s unions, alleged and reported that Ashish Mishra turned up and arrived with three vehicles around the time when the farmers were leaving after an ongoing protest against the three central farm laws. But the union minister along with his son denied all the allegations made by (SKM), and refused to accept that fact that Ashish Mishra was present and was involved in the incident. On the other hand the Uttar Pradesh police arrested the accused who were directly connected with Mishra and the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri. The name of the accused after the identification came out to be Luvkush and Ashish Pandey.
