Minister Tomar reports to Parliament that a budget of 700 cr rupees has been allocated for flood assistance in Maharashtra.

Even as Opposition figures proceeded to disturb the legislative body for the sixth day, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Tuesday in response to a comment in the Lok Sabha that the Government has granted approximately 700 crores for relief efforts for farmers in flood-hit Maharashtra.Speaker Om Birla asked several times the Opposition to participate in the deliberations, but the confirmation hearings had to be delayed numerous times. So according Lok Sabha norms, the very first hour of the Lok Sabha is set aside for legislators to ask parliamentarians questions on any public topic.“We have received and analysed a detailed report of destruction in the state due to the recent floods, especially to farmers.

The home ministry has approved ₹700 crore towards relief,” Tomar said.Opposition members continued to demonstrate. “Please return to your seats and take part in the proceedings. You can get the government to answer all your questions. Please cooperate,” Birla said, making similar requests frequently.“Speaker Sir, through you, I want to tell all the members of the house and particularly the Opposition members that there are more than 15 questions related to village and farmers in the today’s list of business. If the Opposition members have even the slightest regard for the farmers, they should sit in their places peacefully. You should raise you issue through these questions and listen the reply of the government,” Tomar said.Nearly 1.1 million farmers were awarded benefits underneath a major state-run agricultural insurance policy, according to the agriculture ministers, who is also encountering demonstrations from farmers who just want the cabinet to repeal three recent farming legislation. Farmers would be compensated further through the state's disaster assistance fund, he added.“Due to the uproar, the dignity of the House is being destroyed, the public is also being harmed and the character of the opposition parties towards the farmers is also evident,” he said.
