Saravjeet Singh, a Sikh member from Nihang, was tried in a court in Sonipat, where he was held for seven days. Singh assumed responsibility for the gruesome murder of a man on the Singhu border on Friday. After the body was found, police visited the scene and that night Singh surrendered to the murder.
Singh has named four other people and is now being taken to Chamkaur and Gurudaspur in Punjab for identification. The murder weapon is also being sought.
Singh was previously taken to the Kharkhoda Police Department, after which the Kundli Police Department took him to a civil hospital. He was arrested on Saturday afternoon after his medical examination. The investigation team found Nihang Sardar in custody.
According to sources, Lakhbir, who spent 3-4 days with a group of Nihang Sikhs on the Singhu border, was accused of desecrating the holy Sarbloh Granth.
With this in mind, Lakhbir was unable to answer a flood of questions. This led to an argument and attracted the attention of other Nihangs. The clashes quickly turned violent and the human hand was reportedly severed amid the chaos.
His body was mutilated on Friday and found on a police barricade near the Delhi Haryana border.
