On Wednesday (09th June 2021), Nusrat Jahan, the MP of Trinamool and actor, told that her wedding ceremony, two years back, in Turkey with Nikhil Jain, a businessman, is illicit.
She told that they separated a long time back, but she wanted to keep her private life to herself, and she didn't spoke anything about it.
In a statement given to ANI news agency, Ms. Jahan,31, said that, " being on a foreign land as per Turkish Marriage Regulations, the ceremony is invalid. It was an interfaith marriage, it requires a validation under the Special Marriage Act in India which didn't happen. As per court of law, it's not marriage but a relationship or live -in relationship. Thus, the question of divorce doesn't arise."
In 2019, Ms. Jahan tweeted "towards a happily ever after with Nikhil Jain", after their wedding ceremony in the picturesque Turkish town of Bodrum.
Stressing out from the news that her marriage is illegal, illicit and not even a marriage in the eye of law, Ms Jahan said that she managed and worked very hard to handle the expenses of her family from day one itself, and she can't tolerate anyone not relating to her, sharing the limelight, a title or the followers.
In 2019, Nusrat won the lok sabha elections from Basirhat by 3.5 lakh votes.
