As it is widely known that “Khadi”, plays a very important role in the symbol of our Indian heritage. And it dates back to the time when the father of Nation started spinning the Charka, which bought a lot of courage and hope among the Indians to boycott the foreign goods during the Swadeshi movement.
Kadhi is an eco-friendly, timeless textile which gives an Indian touch as well as the contemporary spin to the Indian culture and heritage, which nowadays gained a huge amount of popularity through the printed sarees, pant suites and lehengas. And today in the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday we explore Kadhi as the timeless textile and hand-woven fabric that holds a huge respect and place in the heart of every Indian. This textile simple elegant and yet promotes fashion at the same time with a longer period of time.
As the fashion sense is taking different steps day by day khadi is also shifting along with the fashion sense, thus incorporating with unique styles and techniques. The fashion has taken a different aura now a days as we can easily see that the sarees are taking a different look and can be even draped as a lehngha, says designer “Archi Modi”. Khadi is a symbol of sustainable fashion, which has gone through many changes over the past few decades. Carbon foot is not required in khadi as it is solely, woven with the spinning charks by hands. As due to the climate change, which today’s youth is more concerned about hence Khadi is the best fabric that can be ever worn with zero wastage and have low carbon footprint, and the nil usage of the chemicals further defines Khadi as the best textile that comes to our mind immediately says designer Manish Tripathi.
Back then khadi was only used for wowing Kurtas, now in today’s date we can see the different designers are doing a lot of experiment with the kadhi in the modern world by creating fashionable lehngas, kurtis and sarees with favorable and stylish prints and vintage style anarkali sets. Back in the yester years khadi was only limited up to certain specific people, and for the special occasion. But during the recent years many designers have chosen Khadi as their base material and have given a touch of their own, with their signature styles. Thus once again Khadi has created a buzz among the youngsters. Khadi moved from parliament to parties adorning heavy embellishments and experimentive,” says Mr.Abhishek Pathak, Founder and CEO at Greenwear, backed by Powering Livelihoods programme jointly run by CEEW and Villgro Innovation Foundation.
And there is no doubt that Khadi is one of the best fabric which can be easily worn around during anytime of the year. On a hot day to give you fresh feeling and even in the cold evening to keep you warm.
