Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of establishing the foundation stone which will lead to the expansion of the two most important highways in Maharashtra. The establishment of these two highways will further lead to a boost in the sector of tourism within the State, and in the pilgrim town of Pandharpur. This ceremony is going to be conducted virtually today through a video conference, at 3:30 PM.
This project combines the development of the four laning of the two key roads in Maharashtra. Five sections of Shri Sant Dnyaneshshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg (National Highway 965) and three sections of Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965G). This project is undertaken to further facilitate the people’s movement in the pilgrim town.
After the announcement of this project, PM Modi took to his Twitter account to show his love for “Pandharpur”, which he wrote on Sunday. Pandharpur has a special place in the hearts and minds of many. The Temple there draws people from all sections of society, from all over India. I will join a program relating to Pandharpur's infra needs,” in a tweet. Under this project, 221 km and 130 km of Shri Sant Dnyaneshshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg and Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg will be four lands.
This is further planned to be done at an estimated cost of more than, ₹11,000 crores: ₹6600 crores for the former, and ₹4400 crores for the later purpose. This four laning is going to be done for the Diveghat-Mohol stretch of Shri Sant Dnyaneshshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg, and from Patas-Tondale for Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg. During this virtual call conference along with PM Modi, the Union road transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, and also the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray will also be there present in the virtual event.
