PM Modi to review the usage of gaseous oxygen to speed up the supply and availability of medical oxygen in-country
PM Narendra Modi held a meeting on Sunday to review the usage of gaseous oxygen to ramp up the supply and availability of medical oxygen.
Industries that use large combustion processes have oxygen plants that produce gaseous oxygen. The meeting was on this to consider the proposal for transforming such gaseous oxygen into medical use. The strategy is to shortlist such industries that produce oxygen of required purity. COVID care centers with oxygenated beds will be made in cities near such industries. Five such facilities are in the process.
Ten thousand oxygenated beds are to be expected soon. The project will be accomplished by PSUs and private companies.
The meeting was attended by the cabinet secretary, the home secretary, secretary of road transport and highways, and other senior officials, along with the principal secretary to the Prime Minister.
