PRIME MINISTER REVIEWS COVID-19 VACCINATION DRIVE
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told that still there is high amount of wastage of the Covid-19 vaccine. The PM asked the authorities to tackle the situation by taking appropriate measures.
Review the vaccination drive across the country came through the directive during a meeting.
A government statement reported that in the meeting, the officials gave a presentation on different aspects of immunization exercise and briefed the PM on the availability of the doses and roadmap to ramp up supply.
The PM was informed about the efforts to help vaccine manufacturers increase their productions.
He took the stock of the vaccination exercise among the frontline workers, healthcare workers, age group of 18-44, and age group of 45+.
The wastage of vaccines is still on a higher number and urgent steps should be taken to bring the count down.
PM was informed about the steps being taken on the technology front to make the vaccination process more reachable to the people.
Defense minister Rajnath Singh, Home minister Amit Shah, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also attended the meeting chaired by the PM.
