On Saturday, Krishna Prasadh, the police commissioner said that three men were arrested under the remanded to custody in the case of smuggling gutkha worth ₹44 lakh on Wednesday.
Sandeep Gulab Thackeray (27), Vabji Sable (29), Vishal Pandurang Lavale (22) are the three men who were involved in gutkha smuggling. According to police, Sandeep Gulab Thackeray (27), Vabji Sable (29), are residents of Sakri in Dhule. Vishal pandurang lavale is a resident of uravade in Mulshi.
Vikram Kudal and Prashant Gilbile are staff members, they received the information that blue-colored sheets carrying tata tempo were smuggling gutkha and pan masala for sale. Around 11: 35 PM, the police interrupted the vehicle, when tempo crossed the hanging bridge and moved towards Dange chowk.
According to police, the tempo consists of pan masala and tobacco. Nearly worth ₹ 39,60,000 pan masala with 100 sacks. Tobacco with 100 sacks worth ₹4,40,000.
The three men carried four mobiles with them which cost ₹20000. Tempo itself costs ₹8,00,000.
The tempo number plate displaying that registration with Dhule. But the vehicle was originally registered at Vasai. A case under sections 273, 465, 467, 468,328, 272, 471, 188, and 34 of IPC along with sections 26(2)(iv), 26(2)(i) of food safety and standard act 2006, and some other sections imposed on this case and registered at the police station in Wakad.
