PUNJAB: Channi to be the new CM, two deputy CMs likely to be announced

Channi used to often drive his car himself, and pay the toll tax.  So it came as no surprise today when he came on a motorcycle driven by Sunil Jakhar, former PPCC chief to the Punjab Bhawan. A Minister of Technical Educational and Industrial Training in the Punjab government. A self made politician, lawyer, management graduate, and saviour of the Dalits. Once a student leader,

Charanjit Singh Channi, 58, has grown from the ranks, and believes his power lies in his connection with the masses. Much before Congress legislators began to brew a rebellion in opposition to the chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Channi, who hails from the Ramdasia community, had been seeking a more representation of Dalits in the Punjab Cabinet given their high percentage within the party.

Channi became a lively player within the rebellion towards the leader minister that collected tempo this April after the High Court quashed investigations right into a case associated with profanity. PM Modi congratulated Charanjit Singh Channi on being sworn-in as Punjab’s Chief Minister. Last fortnight, he became among the four ministers who went to meet Punjab in charge Harish Rawat in Dehradun.

But not like the others, he had been selected to participate within the digital Cabinet meet a day later, and even thanked the CM for a step taken for the SC students, fueling the hypothesis that he can be taking a step back. But Channi persisted to rally in opposition to Amarinder, and became one of the signatories to the letter calling for a CLP meet that caused Amarinder’s exit. Rahul Gandhi also congratulated  "Congratulations to Shri charanjit Singh Channi Ji for the new responsibility. We must continue to fulfill the promises made to the people of Punjab. Their trust is of paramount importance" said Rahul.
