Palakkad police find buffaloes left without food for four days, register case.

A case has been registered by the Palakkad Police, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (1960), after they had found more than 30 buffaloes that have been tied up in a small area on a property which is said to be private in Koppam, Palakkad. The buffaloes were being reportedly abandoned for four days and have been outdoors without giving them any food, water or shelter.

When the police decided to visit the spot on Friday, May 28, two of the buffaloes among them were already dead, and the remainder of them were found with having their ribs to be visible. The police have registered the case in the matter, but the person who was responsible for this act has not yet been taken into custody. As per the police, the buffaloes has been tied up on the land; the place is owned by a person who belongs from Kozhikode, on Monday, May 24.

After the local residents have noticed that the buffaloes were not being attended to and that they were not being provided with any kind of food or water. The local residents had told the police that the cattle had been dropped off here by a man who belongs from Kollam district. The cattle now have been shifted to a private farm which is situated in Dhoni. A post-mortem will be conducted for the dead buffaloes by the district Department of Animal Husbandry; it is simply to confirm that they have died of starvation.
