Paytm has introduced a function to book Covid-19 vaccine slots.
Previously, tech giants like Facebook and Google, as well as startups like HealthifyMe, provided several applications to aid in the scheduling of vaccine appointments. Paytm, a leading fintech company has added a Covid-19 vaccination appointment scheduling function to their app. Apart from identifying open slots, users will also be able to make vaccination appointments using the app.
Paytm said in a statement, according to news agency PTI, "Paytm users can now search, discover & also book their vaccination slots for both Covaxin and Covishield at the nearest centre through the Paytm app. The service would help Indians seamlessly book vaccination slots and gain immunity, helping in fighting the ongoing pandemic".
Paytm debuted the 'Vaccination Finder' function on its app in May to assist users to locate leads for vaccination bookings, including information like the type of vaccine offered and the cost.
Over a dozen firms, including Paytm, MakeMyTrip, and Infosys, are awaiting authorization to sell Covid-19 vaccination reservations, according to RS Sharma, the head of the government's digital platform Cowin.
Last month, the government issued new rules for integrating Cowin with third-party apps, making it easier for such firms to provide Covid-19 vaccination reservations.
To counter the Covid-19 outbreak, India has increased immunization efforts. The government has started vaccinating people in stages, beginning with those over 60 years old, then people over 65 45 years old, and most recently, those aged 18 to 44 years old.
