Cuba Tropical Storm
Cuba faces the tropical storm named Elsa. This storm has its centre at about 216 m to the southeast of Cabo Cruz in the eastern province of Granma. This tropical storm brings heavy rain and winds in Cuba. The province of Guantanamo, in the eastern province of Cuba, experienced heavy rainfall and winds, reported by The Institute of Meteorology (Insmet) on Sunday. Nearby places like Santiago in Cuba also experienced heavy torrential rain.
Almost 78,000 people had been evacuated from Holguin, a northeastern province due to the storm. “The rains will get stronger and more intense in some particular locations, mainly in areas with mountains and in the southern coast,” warned Insmet. The storm moves at a rate of 20 km per hour with winds of speed 100 km per hour, in the southeastern province of Cabo Cruz in the eastern province of Granma.
The Civil Defense provided an alarm for almost 11 of the 15 of Cuba province , with certain measures to reduce the risks created by the storm. The storm, had winds of 120 km per hour is considered as Category 1 hurricane. The storm weakened slightly on the morning of July 3 and became a tropical storm.
A tropical storm warning was also given for places of southern Haiti, Jamaica, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The tropical storm Elsa is the first hurricane of this season in the Caribbean, which starts from 1st of June and ends on 30 th of November. Despite tropical storms like Ana, Bill, Claudette and Danny that have formed previously in this area. It is now heading to the Florida Straits and was expected to move in place on the US state’s west coast on Tuesday.
