People gathered to collect COVID19 cure in Chennai stadium might end up positive themselves; social distancing goes for a toss.
Thousands of people gathered outside Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to get Remdesivir. The distribution is regulated by the government.
Saturday, the stadium saw a huge gathering of people on the first day of the remdesivir sale. People gathered to collect a cure for coronavirus for their loved ones but the fear of getting infected themselves was nowhere to be seen. Social distancing, COVID norms all gone for a toss.
"My father is gone. I have kept his body in my house and have come here to buy medicine for my mother. I have been trying to get it for the past 10 days. I even have a token, but now there are so many others here. It's difficult to differentiate between those who have a token and those who don't. I don't know what to do. It is a terrible situation," Sandeep, one from the crowd who was waiting for his turn, said.
It is important to note that the doctors have advised making judicious use of the drug, unnecessary use of the remdesivir drug would cause harm than good.
