Petrol & Diesel Price cut by Rs 10 & 5 respectively by Punjab Govt.
The Central guided states are following one by one. After the Central Government reduced excise duty on diesel and petrol, it is now the Punjab Government who has also cut down the price by ₹10 and ₹5 respectively. On Suy, the Punjab Government lowered the value added tax or VAT on petrol and diesel. The new prices will be effective from midnight.

The petrol and diesel rates in Punjab at present are ₹106.20 and ₹89.83 respectively.
The Central Government has been concerned about the hike in price of fuel in India. There have been protests about the lowering of prices. Even the public transport organizations went on strike due to the same cause. They demanded, if there is a rise in the price of fuel, then the fare of each stoppage should also increase relatively. It was seen that the bus drivers of Kolkata, sat on the streets eating 'Rice with Salt'.
