Buddhadeb Dasgupta died at his residence in Kolkata early on Thursday due to old-age related ailments. Dasgupta's relatives said he had been going through dialysis because of kidney related afflictions.
Leader Narendra Modi on Thursday communicated sympathy on the death of famous movie director Buddhadeb Dasgupta. In a tweet, PM Modi said that Dasgupta was a famous scholar and artist.
"Anguished by the demise of Shri Buddhadeb Dasgupta. His diverse works struck a chord with all sections of society. He was also an eminent thinker and poet. My thoughts are with his family and several admirers in this time of grief. Om Shanti," the Prime Minister said on Twitter.
Dasgupta passed on at his home in Kolkata from the beginning Thursday because of advanced age related afflictions, relatives said. He was 77.
The public honor winning chief was having kidney infirmities for quite a while and going through dialysis two times per week, relatives said.
Mourning his demise, movie producer Goutam Ghosh said, "Buddha da was making films, composing articles and dynamic notwithstanding bombing wellbeing. He had coordinated Tope and Urojahaz in any event, when he was not well. It is an incredible misfortune for us all."
